The 2026 Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas saw a strong and visible presence of U.S. military personnel and veterans.
Key Events and Military Involvement
Over 10 world championship events took place at the Orleans Arena.
Nick Walker became the 20th Mr. Olympia.
Numerous strength sports championship events were held in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Special Tribute to the Military Ticket Program
On September 26, a tribute honored 25 years of the military ticket program at the Olympia.
- Rob Wilkins, a 26-year Air Force veteran and senior military editor, shared the program’s history and impact.
- He noted over 17,000 tickets have been offered to service members in 25 years, with nearly 1,000 issued in 2026.
- Wilkins said the program is more than symbolic—it shows enduring gratitude.
Andre Rush, chef and advocate, praised military spouses and families as the foundation of support.
Charles Eggleston, a retired Army Staff Sergeant and Purple Heart recipient, urged the audience to recognize veterans, especially during the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Recruiting and Engagement at the World Fitness Expo
Navy, Army, and Marine recruiters were active at the World Fitness Expo.
Each booth offered physical challenges and direct recruitment.
Rob Wilkins said such events connect people passionate about fitness, discipline, and self-improvement—values shared by the military.
He noted fewer than 1% of Americans serve in uniform at any time, making outreach vital.
Service members walked through the expo, attending strength events, Olympia prejudging, and expert talks.
They were often stopped to receive thanks from fans of all ages.
A Marine Wins the Bikini Olympia
Jasmine Gonzalez won the Bikini Olympia on Saturday night, defeating two-time champion Maureen Blanquisco.
Announcer Bob Cicherillo revealed Gonzalez is a retired United States Marine.
During her speech, Gonzalez said she discovered bodybuilding in her final year of active duty.
She earned IFBB Pro status just three weeks after leaving service.
She advised service members: ‘Find something you’re passionate about outside of your military role.’
Historical and Ongoing Connections
The military-bodybuilding link dates back far beyond 2026.
Both fields value discipline, physical excellence, and personal growth.
The Olympia continues to bridge military and fitness communities.
