Steven Schneider has come aboard “Imposters,” Caleb Phillips’ science-fiction thriller that drew notice at SXSW Austin last month, as executive producer under his indie genre label Spooky Pictures.
Schneider co-founded Spooky Pictures in 2020 with Roy Lee, with credits including “Late Night With the Devil” and “Strange Darling.” The label’s current slate includes “Hokum,” starring Adam Scott and acquired by Neon; David Dastmalchian vehicle “The Shepherd”; and “The Plague,” directed by Charlie Polinger and starring Joel Edgerton, which debuted in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section. Schneider’s broader producing history spans the “Insidious” franchise and “Paranormal Activity.”
“Imposters” centers on a couple whose baby boy disappears, with the mother eventually finding a way to bring him back – though her husband grows increasingly convinced that what returned is not their child. Phillips, who picked up prizes at SXSW and BiFan for his short “Other Side of the Box,” also wrote the screenplay in his feature debut. “Imposters” stars Jessica Rothe (“Happy Death Day”), Charlie Barnett (“Russian Doll”), and Yul Vazquez (“Severance”).

Thomas Bond and Sara Seligman produced for Broken Pig Productions, alongside Joe Bandelli of Marylous’ Boys, whose previous work includes the “Hell House LLC” franchise. Blue Finch Films are handling world sales.
