What Happens Next in Emmerdale?

DS Thea Ramsden, played by Chelsea Edge, is determined to destroy her biological mother, Kim King, portrayed by Claire King. Thea believes Kim was involved in the disappearance of baby Tate.

She asked a social worker to visit Kim and check for signs of illegal adoption. The worker reviewed Kim’s home and records but found no evidence of wrongdoing. Thea was left frustrated and angry.

Thea Ramsden’s Investigation

Undeterred, Thea gained access to Kim’s phone and downloaded message chains. These include private messages between Kim and others.

One message shows Kim worried about Joe Tate’s reaction to the adoption. Another suggests she wanted to protect the baby from a difficult life.

As Thea reads the messages, she starts to doubt if her anger is about betrayal—or if it’s just a cycle of revenge from her family’s past.

Tom King and Sadie King’s Plot

Cain, played by Jeff Hordley, is worried about Tom King’s return. Tom, played by James Chase, has a history of conflict and has disrupted the village before.

Sadie King, played by Patsy Kensit, sabotaged Ruby Miligan and her husband Caleb’s dinner reservation. She did this to create tension between them.

Sadie said, ‘I just wanted to see how far I could push them before they snapped.’ It’s unclear if Caleb will notice the sabotage. If he does, it could lead to a confrontation.

Joe Tate and Gabby Thomas

Joe Tate, played by Ned Porteous, is still grieving the loss of his wife, Dawn. He told Kim to illegally adopt his newborn son, believing it would protect the child.

But fearing Joe might regret it, Kim arranged for Graham, played by Andrew Scarborough, to care for the baby in a holiday cottage.

Joe remains distant from Gabby Thomas, played by Rosie Bentham. Gabby asked if he was ready to try again. Joe replied, ‘Not yet. I need time to heal.’

Liam Cavanagh’s Secret

Liam Cavanagh, played by Jonny McPherson, is hiding a major secret. Chas, played by Lucy Pargeter, has started to suspect something is wrong.

Liam said, ‘I didn’t mean to get involved—there was a reason I stayed quiet.’ When pressed, he said, ‘Some things are better left buried.’

Chas noted, ‘If it’s about the past, then it might change everything.’ The secret could involve a past relationship or a hidden identity. If revealed, it might challenge long-standing village dynamics.

Kammy’s Emotional Moment

Kammy, played by Shebz Miah, confessed his feelings to Belle, played by Eden Taylor-Draper, at Wishing Well. Belle immediately left the scene.

Kammy told Chas, ‘I’ve been thinking about Tom’s release—what if he comes back and sees me? What if he sees what I’ve done?’ This shows his fear of Tom’s return and hints at guilt or past actions.

Why This Matters

These storylines explore personal loss, guilt, and the impact of past choices. Characters act out of love, loyalty, revenge, and a desire to protect what they believe is right.

The plot deepens character arcs and shows how trust is fragile in the village. Every new revelation threatens to unravel years of established relationships.

What to Watch For Next

  • Whether Caleb notices Sadie’s sabotage and how it affects his relationship with Ruby.
  • How Liam’s secret impacts the group and whether it leads to a confrontation.
